Banner hemming and eyeleting are the finishing steps that turn a print into a banner ready to hang. We hem, weld, eyelet and add pole pockets or rope to suit your fixing. Boldmedia Print Zimbabwe checks the finishing on every banner before it leaves.

Banner hemming and eyeleting are finishing steps that make a printed banner strong enough to hang. Hemming folds and welds or stitches the edges to reinforce them. Eyelets are metal rings punched along the edges so the banner can be tied with cable ties or bungee cords.

Good finishing places eyelets at the right spacing for the banner’s size and wind exposure, with reinforced edges so the material does not tear. Pole pockets, keder edges and rope-reinforced hems are alternatives for frames, poles and large banners. We recommend the right finish based on how and where the banner will hang.

Supplying measurements

Measure the space where the banner will hang and the fixing points available. Tell us whether it will be tied to a fence, wall, scaffold or frame.

Artwork requirements

Keep important text and logos away from the edges so eyelets and hems do not cut through them. We will add a safe area in your artwork if needed.

Survey and installation

Banners can be supplied ready to hang or installed for you. Large banners or banners at height may need a site survey, and wind exposure affects the fixing method.

Maintenance

Check ties regularly and replace any that have broken to prevent the banner tearing. Fold or roll banners loosely when storing them.

Frequently asked questions

How far apart should eyelets be?

It depends on the banner size and wind exposure. We will recommend a spacing suited to your installation.

Can I order pole pockets instead?

Yes. Pole pockets can be added to the top, bottom or sides.

Will eyelets tear out in wind?

Reinforced hems help, and mesh banners reduce wind load in exposed areas.
