A site survey confirms sizes, surfaces and access before printing large graphics or building signs. We start from your photos and measurements and arrange a visit when the job needs one. Boldmedia Print Zimbabwe uses the survey to set up print files accurately.
A site survey is a visit to your premises before a signage project is quoted or produced. We look at the building, the mounting surfaces, access, height, power supply and sightlines, and record what is needed to quote and install the signs properly. Surveys are recommended for work at height, illuminated signs, pylons, billboards, structures and multi-site projects.
A good survey leaves you with fewer surprises: the quotation is based on real conditions, not guesses, and the installation team arrives with the right equipment. A site measurement only records dimensions. A survey also considers fixings, electrical points, permissions and safety. It gives you a clearer picture of what the project involves.
Where it works well
- New shopfront and fascia signage
- Illuminated signs needing power points
- Pylon, totem and monument signs
- Rooftop and high-level building signs
- Billboard and large outdoor structures
- Multi-site and rollout projects
Materials and finishes
- Measurements of walls, fascias and openings
- Photographs of each sign position
- Notes on surfaces, fixings and access
- Power availability for lit signs
- Recommendations for equipment and next steps
What affects the price
- Site location and travel distance
- Number of sign positions to assess
- Size and complexity of the site
- Whether height access is needed during the survey
- Number of sites in a rollout
- Report or mock-up requirements
Supplying measurements
There is nothing to measure yourself, but it helps to send photos and the site address in advance. Tell us the sign positions you have in mind and any landlord or centre requirements.
Artwork requirements
If you have a logo or design ideas, send them before the visit so we can check how they fit the space. Mock-ups can be prepared afterwards using the survey photos.
Survey and installation
The survey identifies access needs, such as ladders, scaffolding or a lift, and any electrical work to be done by a qualified electrician. Structural items are flagged for engineering input where required.
Maintenance
Keep the survey notes and photos with your project file, as they help with future changes or maintenance. Share them with your landlord or property manager if approval is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Do I always need a survey?
Not for simple items like stickers or banners. Work at height, illuminated signs, structures and multi-site projects may need one before a formal quotation.
What do I receive after the survey?
A formal quotation based on the site conditions, with notes on access and any requirements found.
Can I be present?
It helps if someone who knows the building is on site to answer questions about access and power.
