Cut vinyl window lettering is ideal for names, hours and phone numbers where you want crisp, solid colour. We plot lettering from your artwork in a wide range of vinyl colours. Boldmedia Print Zimbabwe supplies it ready to apply or fitted.

Cut vinyl window lettering is lettering and simple logos cut from solid-colour vinyl by a plotter, with the waste removed so only the letters remain on the glass. It is the classic choice for business names, opening hours, phone numbers, website addresses, street numbers and door signs such as push, pull or no smoking. Because the glass around the letters stays clear, it gives a clean, professional look without blocking light or views.

Cut vinyl uses colours made into the film rather than printed ink, so it is very durable and colour-fast. It is best for one- or two-colour designs; gradients and photos need printed vinyl instead. A good cut vinyl job uses fonts that are not too thin, aligns perfectly across the glass and is applied neatly on the correct side of the pane so it reads properly from the street.

Supplying measurements

Measure the glass where lettering will go and tell us the side (inside or outside) and the approximate letter height you want. A photo of the door or window helps us size the text in proportion.

Artwork requirements

Vector artwork (PDF, AI, EPS or SVG) with outlined fonts is essential for cutting. If you just give us the wording, we can set it in your brand font or a suitable alternative.

Survey and installation

Small jobs such as door hours and names can often be installed quickly on site. Glass is cleaned first, and inside application is usually best for longevity.

Maintenance

Wash glass gently around lettering and avoid razor scrapers over the vinyl. Replace individual items, such as hours, when they change rather than redoing the whole window.

Frequently asked questions

How small can cut vinyl lettering be?

Very fine text can be hard to weed and apply; we recommend a minimum size based on the font and will advise on the proof.

Can cut vinyl be more than one colour?

Yes, colours can be layered, though printed vinyl is better for complex multi-colour designs.

Can I apply the lettering myself?

Smaller items can be supplied with application tape and instructions.
